The Simpsons
Since The Simpsons went HD last year, that means we finally get them on Blu Ray. The HDTV airings look so bright and clear, the Blu Ray doesn’t have much further to go, but it definitely preserves the episodes in sharp clarity and bright vibrancy.
The Simpsons: The Complete Twentieth Season on Blu-Ray
The HD episodes just look like works of art, which The Simpsons always was. You can really see the difference in comparison to the standard def episodes at the beginning of the season, but those standard ones still look nice. The colors are a bit more basic but they’re still pure.
The only down side is that since they rushed this set out, we don’t get some of the extras we’re normally used to on Simpsons DVDs. No episode commentaries, and none of those animated menus, but maybe they’ll come back around to season 20 when they catch up and we’ll buy it again. They do have nice menu screens where they draw Simpsons characters right before your eyes.
